Right of Withdrawal (EU and UK)
Last updated 16 October 2026
Draft for legal review. Highlighted notes mark points a lawyer must confirm; they disappear once review is complete.
This page applies if you live in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. It explains the 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases and how it works for our digital portraits.
Legal review: Based on Directive 2011/83/EU (Art. 16(m), as amended by Directive 2019/2161), the Irish Consumer Rights Act 2022, and the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (reg. 37). Confirm wording and that the model form below matches Annex I(B) of the Directive and Schedule 3 of the UK regulations.Your right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period expires 14 days after the day the contract is concluded.
To exercise it, tell us ([Company legal name] Limited, [Registered office address], Ireland, hello@[domain]) by a clear statement, for example an email. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but you do not have to. It is enough to send your message before the 14 days end.
If you withdraw, we will refund all payments received from you without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we hear from you, using the same payment method you used, at no cost to you.
When the right ends early: immediate download
Our portraits are digital content not supplied on a physical medium. Most customers want them straight away, so at checkout we ask you to tick this box:
I want my portrait files now. I agree that delivery starts immediately and I understand that I lose my 14-day right of withdrawal once the download is made available. This does not affect the Whisker & Oil redo-or-refund promise.
If you tick it, delivery starts as soon as payment succeeds, and you lose the right of withdrawal at that point. We repeat this confirmation in your order email. If you do not tick it, you cannot complete an immediate-download order.
Legal review: Decide whether to offer EU/UK customers a delayed-delivery option (files released after 14 days) instead of blocking checkout when the box is not ticked. Blocking is common practice but confirm it is acceptable. This does not affect our promise. Whether or not you waived the right, you can ask for a free redo or a refund within 30 days under our redo-or-refund policy, and your statutory rights for faulty digital content always apply.
