Whisker & Oil

Classic oil painting pet portraits from your photo

A classic oil pet portrait shows your dog or cat as itself, with no costume, in the style of a traditional oil painting: thick brushstrokes, warm glazes and soft light on the fur against a muted, earth-toned backdrop. Whisker & Oil makes it with AI from one photo, asking the AI to leave out collars and tags.

What your portrait looks like

Your pet as itself, in the style of a traditional oil painting:

  • Thick, visible brushstrokes and warm glazes
  • Soft rim light on the fur
  • A muted, earth-toned studio backdrop
  • Only your pet's natural coat: the AI is asked to leave out clothing, collars, harnesses, leads and tags, even when your photo shows them

Made for a frame

You may print and frame your portrait for personal use, on paper or canvas, at any photo lab or online print service.

How big can I print my portrait?

Who it suits

  • A portrait of your pet just as it is, with no costume
  • A frame for the wall, a desk or a mantelpiece
  • Dogs and cats alike: the examples above include both

Which photo to use

One sharp photo of one pet, face visible, in good light. With no costume the coat is the whole picture, and the AI is asked to keep its colours and markings as your photo shows them, so choose a photo where they show clearly.

Classic Oil Painting questions

Is this a real oil painting?

No. It is an AI-generated digital image in the style of an oil painting, delivered as a download. You may have it printed on paper or canvas, at any photo lab or print service, for personal use.

Will my dog's collar be in the portrait?

This style asks the AI to leave it out: no collar, harness, lead or tags, only your pet's natural coat, even when your photo shows them. You see the preview before you pay, so you can check.

What size can I frame it?

Before you pay, you see the portrait's exact pixel size and the largest standard print size it fills sharply, if any. The Collection adds print files sized for 8 × 10 in and A4.

Does it work for cats?

Yes. The tabby cat above is one of the examples. You see a free preview of your own cat before you pay, so you can check first.
